Ogun State CP, Kenneth Ebrimson

Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested an ex-convict, Kehinde Shoboyede, for armed robbery in the Agbado area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said this in a statement on Sunday.

Oyeyemi said the suspect, before his latest arrest on Tuesday, had been convicted for a similar offence.

The PPRO added that residents of the area started experiencing robbery incidents shortly after the suspect was released from prison.

He said,

On noticing this, the DPO, Agbado Division, SP Kuranga Yero, embarked on intelligence-based investigation through which detectives got a clue that led to the suspect’s arrest.

On interrogation, Shoboyede confessed to being responsible for a series of robbery operations in Agbado and its environs in collaboration with one man, whom he simply identified as Rafiu, who is presently at large.

Oyeyemi added that items such as a cut-to-size locally-made pistol, four live cartridges and one sharp knife were recovered from the suspect.

The police spokesperson said the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson, ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad for discreet investigation.

Oyeyemi added that the CP also directed that Shoboyede’s partner in crime must be hunted and brought to justice.
