AEDC Official Stabbed To Death While Disconnecting Light

In the afternoon on Tuesday, February 25th, 2020, a staff of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) was stabbed to death while disconnecting customers who didn’t pay their monthly electricity bills from the national grid.

Prior to the incident, AEDC staff members were on official duty in the Kabusa area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, when a man launched an attack on them from behind.

As a result of the attack, one of the company’s staff lost his life, while another one escaped with serious injuries.

According to the Guardian Newspaper, the deceased man’s body has been deposited at the mortuary in Garki Hospital, Area 8, Abuja. The attacker has been arrested and detained by the police.

The AEDC’s head of Corporate Communication, Oyebode Fadipe, confirmed the incident.

Fadipe stated that two of their staff were attacked, which left one dead and the other is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital and that he was responding to treatement.

He added that the attacks on their staff members had become frequent and common.

Fadipe added that AEDC would pursue this murder case to a logical conclusion and will no longer tolerate this kind of recurrent attacks on their officials lightly.
