Nsem Godwin, pictured above, was arrearsed in Okitipup, Okitipupa Local Government Area by Ondo Police Command for allegedly kidnapping a 4-month-old baby.

The Ondo State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Femi Joseph confirmed the arrest to reporters and said the suspect was arrested by Command’s Highway Saver Police while attempting to escape with the victim. The suspect is in police custody.

Joseph said that somehow the perpetrator found his way into a compound the baby lives with his parents. Moments before the suspect abducted the baby, the baby was playing in her compound with his older brother.The suspect ran out of luck when some community residents spotted him carrying the victim, and asked him how he got the kid. Having begun to pretend that he was mentally unstable, he could not give any meaningful answer.

The angered residents were reportedly unable to lynch him to death, because of the intervention of some community elders around. He was handed over to the police immediately.
