“Defend Yourselves Against Herdsmen Attacks” – MASSOB Urges South-South, South-East

Defend yourselves against herdsmen attacks, MASSOB tells South-South and South-East

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has urged the people of the South-South and the South-East to protect themselves against attacks by Fulani herdsmen in their regions.

MASSOB emphasized that the call became necessary owing to frequent reports of deadly attacks by herdsmen in Anambra, Imo, Delta and other parts of the two regions.

The movement’s Director of Information, Sunday Okereafor, told journalists on Monday, March 9th, 2020 that the continued attacks on innocent, unarmed citizens in the South-East was a clear indication that governors of the South-East had no plans to protect their own people.

He explained that while the North and the South-West were already making serious plans to protect their regions via the creation of their security outfits, the governors of the South-East had yet to show an iota of seriousness in making the materialization of Operation Ogbunigwe possible.

The South-East governors have no agenda to protect their people. MASSOB is telling the people in the South-East to defend themselves against any attack. The South-West and the North are already making moves to protect their people.

In Niger Delta, they have the Avengers and MEND. This is the time they (Niger Delta) should defend themselves. They should not look at their governors for protection because their governors cannot protect them.

It is the same advice we have for the people of the South-East. The herdsmen are attacking people in the South-East. Our people are being killed everywhere; in Delta, Enugu, Anambra, Abia. All over the South-East and the South-South, the Fulani herdsmen have been killing us.

The people, including those from Niger Delta, should protect themselves. We, the Igbo will protect ourselves. Every day, you will hear that herdsmen are killing people in the South-East. In Awka, they (herdsmen) killed people,

Okereafor said.

However, Okereafor criticised the decision of the governors of the South-East governors to invite the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Adamu Mohammed, when they met concerning how to protect the region and the proposed security security outfit.

When the South-West and the North got set to have their security outfit, did they invite the Inspector General of Police? The South-South is also planning theirs without inviting the IGP. Why did the South-East governors invite the IGP?
