Zenit set sights on Liverpool’s Lovren

Zenit St Petersburg want to bring in Dejan Lovren from Liverpool – according to the Daily Mail.

The Russian outfit have identified the Croatian centre-back as the ideal replacement for Branislav Ivanovic in the heart of the defence.

Zenit are prepared to pay £9 million for Lovren, but Liverpool are unlikely to sell for less than £15m ($19m).

Benfica target Cavani

Benfica are interested in signing Uruguayan striker, Edinson Cavani – according to Record.

The 33-year-old is available on a free transfer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of June.

Cavani has been heavily linked with Atletico and Inter, but Benfica are also now weighing up a swoop for his services.

Milicic leaves Matildas for Macarthur

Matildas coach Ante Milicic has stepped down to focus solely on managing new A-League club Macarthur FC.

The Australian was hoping to juggle both roles temporarily but all parties have decided it’s best for him to focus on just one role moving forward.

Leeds confident of Bielsa extension

Leeds United chief executive, Angus Kinnear, is hopeful manager Marcelo Bielsa will remain in charge of the club next season with his contract set to expire after the club sealed their return to the Premier League.

Teenager will double current wages with second contract in 12 months

Mason Greenwood is set to be rewarded with his second new Manchester United contract in less than 12 months, reports the Mirror.

The teenager is in line for a pay-raise of almost 100 per cent, pushing his weekly salary up to around ​£40,000.
